After we uploaded the assignment, it was presentation day! My group (Gabriela, Frances and Esteban) and I got together to record the presentation. We followed all the basic instructions for example: 15-20 minute long presentation and then discuss a summary of our project. In the video you will see some of the important objectives such as: brief history, description of technology, three websites and three blogs on 3D Printing, three articles searched on the virtual library of Sagrado Corazon, one youtube video discussing the impact on 3D Printing in todays life and six experts in the field. I was very content on how we gave the presentation as well as how my group worked together. I can definitely say with certainty it exceeded my expectations on how great it turned out. Throughout the semester, when this website was created until this day, I had a total of 33 views, 21 visitors and 1 like. Let’s hope these results only keep rising!
Regarding the class, it is observed that the same tries to teach different aspects of the material, taking into account some of the things previously worked on. On the other hand, the class has appropriate teaching materials for the topics and concepts addressed, which enable the transmission and understanding of my knowledge. These are very dynamic classes, since we always try to do different activities, which allows me to become motivated by the teacher’s proposals. I also highlight the teacher-student relationship, and I could say that it is favorable for the development of the class. There is a certain trust between the teacher and his students, which allows a certain dialogue between them, raising doubts and making explanations. Teamwork is highly favored, so the students and I can value and take into account the different opinions and work done. Finally, I could say that the teacher tries to enhance the creativity and forms of representation of my classmates and I, because it gives us some freedom when working on the proposals, incorporating some of our knowledge and experiences.
Two of the things that I most loved about this class was the final project and the assignment on coding. Each of the homework’s that we got to do were all exciting and different, but if I had to choose between all of them, I would say that coding and the final project has made me learn new tips and tricks I wouldn’t have ever experienced if not for this class. I enhanced my knowledge on how 3D Printing has made an impact in todays society and how coding creates a big effect on the internet/web. My expectations on the classwork and the dynamic with the professors teaching exceeded my expectation. These new attributes that I have obtained in the class will be used for other future classes.
There are so many tools I have learned in this class. Characteristics such as: advancing my research analysis, finding new resources of information, editing and having a broader understanding on privacy in the internet. These perceptions help me more understand the importance on how the web influences on today’s society and college students lifestyle.
One thing I would change about the class would be the way the professor sometimes communicates the information. Sometimes when someone is talking non stop, it can be boring yet insightful. There is always room for improvement. With this being said, I hope that this constructive criticism can be of good use to the professor and to the other classmate who want to take this class. As for my project, my group and I chose the topic of 3D Printing. The process of 3D printing encompasses many forms of technology and materials used in almost all industries. Now a days it has become a great advancement in todays society. It has changed the way people can present objects and improves a better work lifestyle. In the photo below, I bookmarked six of my favorite websites on skincare products. They all vary in prices and are my absolute favorites to use. Having a skincare routine can improve your skin, will provide a youthful glow, visible results and one feels more confident.
This experience working with Diigo was enlightening. I have learned an easier way to bookmark important sites without having to loose them. The greatest part of all is having the ability to characterize my websites on my tags. The concept of 3D printing has been around for much longer than most people would imagine. Initially this technology first began in 1981. During the years of 1984-1988 the new invention was called stereolithography, this allows designers to create three dimensional models using data. A man named Charles Hull began forming a process that utilized UV lamps and curing resin layer by layer. The process showed undeniable potential. Then in the years following 1999 advances in 3D printing came so far as to successfully create a synthetic human bladder and implant it on someone. 3D printing was an incredible door of opportunities for the medical field.
In 2005 there was even a 3D printer that could print its own parts. Slowly but surely people had the power to create whatever they wished to create. This printing alternative became used for manufacturing industrial parts, mass consumption and was commercially available. Nowadays 3D printing is surely at the highest peak it has ever been. With the creation of aircraft pieces, jewelry, housing parts, and prosthetics this market is nowhere near slowing down.
Technology description:
A 3D printer is simply a machine that can take a digital 3D model and turn it into a tangible 3D object via additive manufacturing. As stated in What is 3d printing?, “The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.” While these printers come in many forms, they all have three basic parts: the digital file, printing machine and printing material.
The digital file instructs the printer exactly how to create the 3D object. It does this by dividing the object into layers and describing the dimensions of each layer with great accuracy. Once uploaded the oficial file, the printing machine needs enough free and clean space to construct the object, which is why 3D printers typically have a box, vat, or compartment to work in. While techniques vary, these machines usually employ nozzles or lasers to lay down the material and then set it for each layer. Once starting to print, the printer extrudes the material into thus creating the object wanted. These printed objects are mainly created of a single material. One of the most popular is ABS plastic; however, 3D printers can also use various types of nylon and resins.
All in all the process of 3D printing encompasses many forms of technology and materials used in almost all industries. The 3D machines are here to serve needs from short-run prototyping through full-scale contract manufacturing. It has changed the way people can present objects and improves a better work lifestyle.

This article titled “Student Research Applied in 3D Printed Prosthetic Technology” written by Emma Hernandez PH.D talks about how the efforts of undergraduate students of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences campus specifically working in the BioMedical Innovation Laboratory had been working hard to utilize 3D printing in order to facilitate the access to low cost prosthetic hands. Overall experience with the group project:
My experience searching 3D Printing was very fun and educational. I can honestly say that working together as a group on this project has been a wild adventure. We get along great, divided the homework evenly, have our ideas clear and well put out. I am enjoying this experience of learning the advantages of our current technology and can’t wait to dive deeper into the subject.

The internet and the “Terms and Agreements” provided in each application or website searched on the wide web can be a dangerous thing by just one click of a button that says “Accept“. By agreeing, one grants permission to their owners to collect and sell personal details. Facebook, Google, Twitter and all other source of connection via the web are used for both personal entertainment as well that it can be useful and beneficial to others controlling it. While reading various articles and watching videos regarding the “privacy and security” of each application shows how little respect they have to our personal information. It extracts information about our habits, inside preferences, financial situation, social circle and more. When one visits various websites on the internet, there are companies which are tracking their every movement. These companies track what sites one goes, what they purchase, where they click and how much time one spends on each website. Information such as: photos, comments, likes, tweets, history searches and more are used by other companies to obtain more benefits.
While completing this assignment, I took the liberty to instruct myself on what Google has on me by going to myactivity.google.com/myactivity . As stated in the articles, Google has kept search histories of mine from class assignments to personal searches for entertainment, deleted activity, music history and more. This can be both a blessing and a curse. I personally don’t mind Google keeping my search history, because if a certain situation happens where I lose my tabs, with just on click of a button I can obtain them all again. Of course, one must know the risks they take when entering the web. They must be careful at all times. All in all, everything can be defended depending on the choice of the person.
There are a number of browser extensions that help control when these certain companies get our information. Browsers such as Disconnect give us control over whether or not the sites that one visits collects information about us and send them to other related companies. While divulging into this experiment, I entered in two most commonly used website I use on a daily basis. The results of how many possible or affirmative sites were tracking me was shocking.
Each if the articles and videos that I have discovered through today’s assignment has spoken out to me on certain topics. The internet powerfully influences industry structure and sustainable competitive advantage. These informations can be collected, analyzed and even sold by the social media to its affiliates and partners. It obtains information one wouldn’t think about or wouldn’t put too much importance of on a daily basis. Social media platforms, website and mobile applications collect, process and profile your data into statistics that are ready to be sold. During my experiment, doubts have been cleared up to me on how the internet works. We all know that the internet is the least private source, but with good networking sites, our searches and histories can be protected if chosen. The web has impacted us through centuries and it will only keep advancing, to this being said, one must be aware of all the circumstances before entering.

Covid-19 has become a pandemic virus that has struck all around the world. It has affected many people physically and emotionally. Since the beginning of such virus, it has tormented people across the globe. Schools has been shut down, local stores or business have been closed until further notice and all humanity has had to stay inside their house until everything dials down. Stated in How China’s Corona Virus is Spreading – and How to Stop It: “The most powerful measures may be public education about the best ways to avoid infection, such as avoiding physical contact with people known to be infected, and to minimize spread from unidentified infections, wearing masks and hand hygiene. Any new deadly pathogen inevitably gives rise to panic. But experience with other epidemics has shown us that a targeted approach can contain and arrest the spread of a virus—even more effectively than sweeping quarantines.”
In my case in Puerto Rico, the governor has put an order for all citizens to be in their homes on lockdown from 9:00pm – 5:00am. As for my education, Universidad Sagrado Corazon has been temporarily closed until further notice from the governor and the staff are fully prepared to open the gates for teacher/student interaction. Luckily, the virus has not stopped us from receiving education. We have been taking courses online through video chat Zoom or through the portal in MiSagrado.edu. It has been challenging, but we as a community have all learned more. As college students, nothing can stop us from getting and spreading education. This has been a wild experience for all of us and has made us learn to take care of ourselves more.
It’s been hard for some people to adapt, yet it is something that Puerto Rico can stand. We have all gone through tough moments with Hurricane Maria, the earthquakes, meteoroids and more. We are strong and are capable of helping our community to withstand any other inquiries. As fellow citizen of the community, I will encourage and pray for us to overcome anything and everything.

Throughout the class, we learned how to use feedly.com to subscribe with my fellow classmates and search channels with common interests. We had the liberty to choose one folder for our own personal blog and one folder that has to do with technology.

Based on its definition, the internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. The web has been a trend for centuries. It’s almost impossible to imagine a world without the internet. It connects people, lives, stories and businesses. Regardless of the purpose, the importance of the web in our daily lives is unquestionable.
Throughout my life, I have always loved the mysteries of what the internet has in store. Since I was very little, I challenged myself to learn the wonders of the web. With time, I became an expert on technology and learned many things about it. Mainly, my relationship with the web is for entertainment and to grow on intellect. I like to read poetry and look at photos on Instagram, watch funny videos on Youtube, see funny memes on Twitter, watch movies and series on Netflix or Disney +, connect with family / friends on Facebook and Whatsapp, and inform myself with the latest news online through Google or the recent apps mentioned earlier.
I for one use the web everyday. It’s sort of an instant necessity when I wake up in the morning and also when I prepare myself to go to sleep in the night. It’s something that I don’t realize immediately, since society itself normalizes such obsession. The web is crucial in today’s society and in my life.
I find that the internet has made my life easier and more convenient. As a college student, the internet has been a great source of income and provides a big experience on knowledge and wisdom. Currently, I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology to eventually finish such degree and be able to pursue a master’s in speech pathology at Albizu Campos University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. With the internet I will be able to explore various creative, new and original ways to be able to make sessions and provide a quality service by countering the difficulties of children. The web increases my professional skills which would lead me to a greater future.
With time, the role of the internet has become more important to our daily lives. This can be both a blessing and a curse. Internet addiction is something that is becoming increasingly common in recent years. This is not only limited to teenagers, but also involves different areas of society. People have to be connected at all times, developing an obsession that can have serious consequences. Since, like all technology, it is up to each individual to define the positive or negative effects it will have on their life. If used properly, this could really help in all aspects possible. The internet has revolutionized the availability of all types of information, whether if it’s on school, work or for social interaction. The internet could be of great help in all aspects posible.
Personally, I think the internet is an incredible tool and the benefits of internet access can help a better tomorrow.
